About Bruce Barber

On his Facebook page, Bruce Barber describes himself as “painfully shy”. If you know Bruce, you get the joke.

Background

Bruce has been known to radio audiences since the early 1980′s for his pop culture commentary and “off-kilter” sense of humor. As half of the the top-rated “Smith and Barber The Morning Show” on WPLR (1985-2003), Bruce entertained thousands of listeners every morning. The program generated millions of dollars in advertising revenues, and garnered an extensive list of awards and accolades.

Independent Work

Barber Productions has worked with CRN International on several projects, including campaigns for international brands such as Unilever, Microsoft and Weber Seasonings.

Public Radio

These days, in addition to his role as “Editor in Chief” of The Real Life Survival Guide, Bruce is serious about his work for Connecticut Public Radio. He hosts WNPR’s weeknight and Saturday morning programs, and is also host and producer of “The WNPR Health Forum” in conjunction with the Yale Cancer Center.

The Real Life Survival Guide is about helping each other out... and having a good time while we're doing it!
