How can I help my teenager find a good summer job?

There don’t seem to be any job openings for XBox players this summer, which is unfortunate, because I have a couple of highly qualified applicants living with me: my two teenaged sons.

I learned some valuable lessons while working on my own summer jobs: the fine art of getting a lot done in the morning, choosing a restaurant for lunch that doesn’t “card”, and finding quiet place to sleep in the afternoon.

If you’ve wanted more for your son or daughter in the summer job department and have met with success, please share in the Comments section!

Don’t be shy. Talk to everyone you know – diplomatically, of course, and find out what they know about jobs available in the area. Someone you know is likely to know of a business looking for help – and word-of-mouth is still a great networking method
    Good luck kids!

Jobs are few and far between for sure, so check out the local temp agencies, and seasonal businesses…both a good place to start.

Another idea; check with your adult friends to see if their employers are looking for interns, summer help ect.
Careerbuilder.com allows you to search in your specific geographic area, and type of employment.

    Good luck

Well as we all know, instilling good work ethics in our children is very important; this will be the foundation of their future, and it all starts at home with the parents.

Children must understand the value of a dollar, and when they turn 16, consider sending them to your local Stop and Shop.

Yes I realize that they say they might not be hiring at the moment, but as long as your child has filled out the application, “THE SQUEAKY WHEEL GETS THE OIL”! [Have them] call the employer at least once a week – If not for nothing, they will hire you on the spot if you just stop calling them.. hahaha… It’s just a good place to start.

Good Luck Everyone, I hope this made some sense.
